For years I used to run many sites. When I was younger I had many different personal sites. They changed often–names, layouts, hosts, content–likely because I was growing up and so much was changing with me. Then, during a few particularly hard years, I got out of the website game. Donut.nu is me during my rebuilding phase.
This website is brought to you by the letter D, the number 8, and inhumanly large amounts of caffeine. Hosting is provided by Site5.
Why Donut.nu?
My first name is Donna. One of the most awesome people on the planet, my friend Patricia, calls me “Donut”. She informed me that dona in Spanish means ‘doughnut’–at least in Venezuela. There’s also a slight Veronica Mars connotation there for me.
Oddly, I loathe doughnuts. Except the powdered ones. Those are delicious.
I chose it because it’s short, sweet, easy to remember, and still personal at the same time. It’s a name I can keep for a long time.
What do you post here?
I post lots of things, mostly personal. Crazy things that happen to me, crazy things that I do, conversations, posts about all creepers that accost me, my education, nerdy things, food, general life stuff, rants, books, opinions, etc.
Right now, every weekend I’ll be posting in my This Week Was Awesome Because… category. Not only do I get to recap the awesome things for myself and my readers and leave out the bad and boring, but I get to remember that no matter how insane or terrible other parts of my week may have been, good times were still had!
