Time Consuming Like No Other

I’ve spent the last NINE hours of my life playing with my new phone. I even forgot to eat. I’m considering doing that now, but alas I’m still using aforementioned phone and can’t seem to pull myself away from it.

Guess what type of phone I got?

Yep, I’ve hopped on the iPhone bandwagon. I know, I know. I was never planning on getting one because of the price, because I was too cheap to pay US$24 per month for the data plan, I didn’t think I needed all that on my phone, 16 GB wasn’t enough space, etc. Plus I had never really used one despite my many visits to the Apple Store.

Then my brother got one the day before yesterday. And I stole it last night for half an hour and was instantly addicted.

That’s how they get you. Bastards.

If I has has to pay for it myself upfront I would have never got it. Instead it was a combination of a huge discount (new phone credit plus my dad’s 40% UPS employee discount) and it being my belated Christmas pressie that made it happen.

Now I’m wondering how I ever lived without the ability to look up bus and movie schedules on my phone. Do you know how fun it is to wait at a timetable-less stop for an hour and realizing it’s never going to show up? In the rain? At the only bus stop without a shelter? And nobody is answering their phone to give you new bus info.

Yeah. I love it. I’m one of THOSE people.

I also just realized my last post, a particularly ranty rant, didn’t post for whatever reason. Meh. I still have a copy on my hard drive so I’ll likely post it tomorrow.

Oh..you make me want an Iphone so badly. I’ve got a new phone a few months ago and I’m very satisfied, but it seems the Iphone gives so much more. Me wants!

What other advantages has the Iphone against regular models?

Don’t other phones have internet access (for bus and movie times), too?

Oh, what am I saying. I definitely would not turn down an iPhone :P

    Remember to eat! ;)

So far I’m mostly addicted to the apps and how it integrates with my MacBook Pro much better than my BlackBerry did as BlackBerry’s sync program for Mac OS X is utter crap. I’d say, if you’re not going to rely extensively on apps then there is no point in getting an iPhone.

I more meant that I didn’t have a data plan before and now I’m spoilt for it so I’ll never be able to be without it again. I also really effing hate browsers on most mobile phones. Too much of a hassle, too slow on the BlackBerry Curve, and confusing navigation on most pages–especially Mr. Movie Times and my local bus system trip planner.

It’s a little harder to type without looking than on my CrackBerry, but so far I’ve typed this last line without looking because it corrects most errors, even pretty serious ones. I thought the touch screen keyboard would bother me more, but I don’t mind it much.

My boyfriend has an iphone … while it’s nifty and all, I need a keyboard. LOL. That’s why I’m planning on getting a Touch Pro — it’s still a smart phone, but it doesn’t cost as much for data plan.

I used to hate waiting for the metro, so I just started carrying a Gameboy / Nintendo DS. :(

    Haha.
My brother has an iTouch, and it is seriously amazing! It would be awesome to have an iPhone, I’m telling ya… although, you already know. :P

    Have fun!

I absolutely love my iPhone. I can’t imagine using any other phone now, and that’s because I’ve had quite a few phones in my day. Even my Blackberry, which I absolutely loved, can’t compare to the iPhone. So much stuff you can do with it! It’s great. :)

The Iphone seems cool but here in Holland you can only get an iphone to work with a certain provider and package and I don’t like to be limited in my choices.

I can pick out a new phone for free in October again (with the renewal of my subscription) and there are so many iphone look-alikes now that give me a much broader choice in providers etc that I’ll just go for one of those.

Either way, I can totally understand that you forgot to eat etc while playing with it. It’s just so damn nifty!

I haven’t really played around on one yet which is probably why I am still not tempted to purchase one. I don’t deserve it though, all of my nice things seem to break.

I’ll say it: I’m green with envy. You should go all MySpace on us and post a picture of yourself holding it in glee. Then I can stare at the screen and salivate at the sight of the phone. :P
