I dealt with my share of crazy customers when I was a cashier, but this guy sounds like a complete psychopath. I mean, if he wasn't just being an asshole and trying to get attention and if he actually creates these imaginary memories about being in some war, that's pretty crazy stuff.

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better - I've had a customer throw her cellphone at me - because I taked to her, while she was in the middle of a phone call. I "interrupted her".
Nothing pisses me off more, then a customer on their cellphone, while their in your line.

Oh lord. I've had so many customers pull that shit on me. I actually wrote a few posts awhile back about customers. I won't go on about it here, but you can read them if you're interested. :P

Okay, that is rude. Seriously, I am not someone that believe in the phrase "the customer is always right". It's good that your boss sort of back you up. :)

Aren't the holidays seasons suppose the be relaxing? At this time, everyone is usually less stressful and enjoying the festival and holidays. :P

@Justin: I think that may have been even more frightening. :P

@Raych: Especially since customers tend to be wrong. ;)

@Crystal: I know! Plan. in. advance. It started snowing a week before this incident. Hard. It never snows like this in Seattle. Perhaps then would have been a good day to shop for rations!

OH SCREW HIM! What an effin jerk! I think someone missed their NAPPY TIME -.-

It's their fault for leaving shopping til the last minute and they have absolutely no right to take it out on the Customer Service ppl.

Christmas time drives me nuts at my call centre (inbound calls for businesses/doctors/emergency services). We were overflowing w/ calls the other day because everybody's pipes froze or their heaters died *sigh*

@Holly: I know! Sometimes I think everybody could benefit from some breathing exercises. Calm thyself. You'll not regret it in the long run.

@Tracey: Not dwelling--I attract crazy people somehow so I just plan for things like this to happen. Seriously, it's sort of ridiculous the amount of unbalanced individuals who find me.

@Amanda: I know! It was so random. It was a relatively calm day attitude-wise otherwise, which is surprising considering everybody in Seattle was there trying to stock up on food and candles, etc.

@Kaylee: I spend half my time blaming corporate since, usually, it is their fault. I mean, why do people think I'm the one who decided to raise the prices? If you don't want to pay US$4.50 for a gallon of milk, er, don't. Safeway is three blocks away and they sell milk for much cheaper. And I love Fight Club! :D

@Xuan: That is effing crazy. Over a straw? Damn. This is why I'm glad I can just point people to where we keep straws, condiments, etc. when I'm working in the food area. Luckily, it didn't hurt too much. I did this dodge-blocky type move that I may or may not use when I play boxing on my Wii. >.>

Ouch, a shopping basket to the head? That's gotta hurt.

Still, guess it's one of the downsides of customer service. There's always that one slightly fucked up person who makes your job that little extra bit more difficult. Like that woman who threw iced tea at me because she didn't like the straw I'd given to her. Fail.

There's definitely something wrong with him. It's not like you are the one who makes the store policies/decides what's on sale.

Fight Club!

Ewwwww. WTF A SHOPPING BASKET? What a weirdo, seriously. I hope you're feeling ok about it and not dwelling on this. Some people are just socially inadequate and looking for excuses to make themselves look less screwed up.
