Suffocating is Not Conducive to a Good Night of Sleep

So, I’ve been deathly sick. The cold from hell, to be exact.

Drowning in mucus isn’t a fun way to wake up.

I rarely get colds any more, but when I do I seem to get them for longer and far worse than anyone else who has it. I just get completely wiped out for a week, at least, and generally feel like shit for another week after that.

Worst bit is right now I have a paper route that has me running about and I’m in the middle of looking for another job.

On another note, I’m having a love affair with Nyquil right now.

In gelcap form. I have a general rule to never take anything in syrup form that I could just as easily take as a pill.

Except amoxicillin in pink liquid form. The stuff that they give you when you have ear infections as a kid? That stuff tastes good.

Here’s to you getting better! It sucks being sick and even moreso when it takes forever to get over it. My husband and I just suffered through it. While he was fighting a sore throat/cough, I was fighting a sinus infection. You should look into a Neti Pot or the other one by the same Dr. It works super well for mucus :)

When I get sick, I get sick for a lonnng time now. I remember last winter when I caught a cold, I swear it lasted for like 3 months… or it just turned into allergies as hay fever season approached. Maybe it’s psychological though because when you think you’re sick, you actually feel sicker!

Aw, man, I loved that pink liquid stuff to pieces. It’s a bit dangerous to make medicine taste so good, though. ;)

I’ve been sick for the past two weeks as well, although not to the deathly stage. Hope your mucus stops trying to drown you soon. :)

It’s difficult to sleep in a cold. I like nyquil. Last time I took that I fell asleep for like two days. Never felt better.

Thanks for the links in my last post I really enjoyed them.

Tell me about it! I’ve been ill twice this month, more than I have been for the whole of 2007, I think. It totally wrecked my blogathon challenge!
I had a sore throat though, that’s a lot worse I think because you can’t even swallow or eat. You dread the next time you need to swallow and you get all phlegmy.
Oh well, get all of the illnesses for 2008 out of the way and enjoy the rest of the year, ey?

When was the last time you had Amoxicillin? It can’t have been recently, because it does NOT taste good. They obviously only sweeten the syrup for kids because I had it the last time I had acute tonsillitis and it tasted like a combination of vomit and earwax. Bleaurgh!

I hope you feel better soon! I am allergic to Amoxicillin, as in, death may occur, so I’m just going to take your word on the taste!

Heh, I know how that is with the nyquil! A few months ago I had a horrible cold and the only way I could get to sleep during those awful days was by taking nyquil.

It was definitely when I was a kid. Once they gave me this some heavy-duty crap when I had a really terrible ear infection that tasted like strawberry death-flavored sulfur. I believe it was a form of amoxicilin, but it may have been something else entirely.

Blah, yes, I ended up getting a cold while I was getting well from the other one! It was terrible. And then I got busy and lazy which tends to happen whenever I’m sick.
